Buying a Photo
Buying a photograph from ShootingDistance Photography is easy and you have a lot of control over the way you want it to look. You can choose the size, the finish, and most cool, the cropping that you want.
How'z it Work?
Every gallery has a "Buy" button at the top right, and a "View Cart" button with a shopping cart icon on it. Click on the "Buy" button to find prices and sizes for either a single photo that you've selected in a gallery, or to see prices for all of the photographs in that gallery.
If you've clicked on a photo to see it larger onscreen, the shopping cart icon at the top of the page will take you to the "Buy this Photo" window too.
When you've selected the photo you want, you'll get an interface showing you the sizes and finishes available, and letting you order the quantity you wish. On the left-hand side of the window, you'll instantly see what the photo will look like in the size that you've chosen. (This isn't the same as cropping it, so don't worry, you'll get to crop it as you like). You'll have the option to go directly to the types of sizes you're interested in, by clicking on the "Standard Sizes, Other Sizes, Square Sizes..." links on the page.
Make your choices for the photo you are purchasing and click to either continue browsing in the gallery or proceed to the Checkout.
Keep Shopping: You can Add or Subtract Items from Your Shopping Cart at Any Time as You Browse the Site
After you've added a photo to your cart, you can choose to go back to the galleries and keep looking. The cart updates automatically with every selection. Any time you want to see what's in the cart, click the View Cart button. There, you can choose to add or remove items. Go back to the galleries and look at more photos from there. At checkout, you can always change sizes or quantities, or remove items too.
Cropping in the Checkout
Now you can customize the photograph to show the elements you like the best. You've already chosen photo sizes, so your photos now show up in Checkout with a band around them to show the size constraints, if the size you chose doesn't accommodate the whole shot. Either double-click on the photo thumbnail itself, or click the "Adjust" button there. The photo enlarges, and gives you the controls to move the cropping band anywhere on the photograph – so you'll see exactly what the cropping you've chosen will look like. When you're satisfied, choose "Save Crop". But you DO have lots of options for sizes here; if the size you chose doesn't quite work, choose another and it probably will- perhaps an 8x10 won't quite fit the whole photo as you'd like it, but an 8x12 might.
Finalizing the Transaction
It's easy from here, just click "Checkout" and follow along to put in the pertinent info on your account and shipping information. All the prints are guaranteed to arrive just as you've ordered, and will be top quality.
